asked the Minister of Transport what proposals have been submitted to him by British Railways for the development of fully automatic computer- controlled freight trains; and what investigations he is making in this matter.

Mr. Carmichael

British Railways has suggested that computer-controlled self-powered wagons could be developed. But the project is not in its current programme.
