This E.D.C., like others, has been asked to study urgently the contribution its industry can make to the balance of payments against the background of devaluation. It had earlier decided to concentrate initially on two studies, the long term rôle of agriculture, with particular reference to import-saving and manpower. Both are relevant to the scope of expansion.
