§ Mr. Godberasked the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs what guidance he has given to the Economic Development Council for the agricultural industry on their programme of work; and whether he has asked them to make an assessment of the capability of that industry for expansion and import saving, either under the present system of agricultural support, or by a system of import levies.
"SPECIALISED STUDIES OF POSSIBLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE SEVERNSIDE AREA" Subject Body Undertaking Study Date of Completion 1. Possible suitability of various sites in Great Britain including the Portbury area and the Cardiff-Newport coast as sites for a Maritime Industrial Development Area Ministry of Transport and other Government Departments and National Ports Council, as advised by consulting engineers (Sir William Halcrow & Partners) The preliminary study will be completed in the early summer. 2. Short term growth prospects of Cwmbran New Town Officials of the Welsh Office, in consultation with local authority officers The work has been completed and an announcement will be made shortly. 3. Most desirable pattern of land use in the course of further expansions in the Gloucester-Cheltenham area Gloucester City Council, Cheltenham Borough Council and Gloucestershire County Council Sometime in 1969. A variety of other land use or transportation studies are being carried out by different local authorities singly or in combination.
