HC Deb 09 February 1967 vol 740 cc345-6W
45. Mr. Howarth

asked the Postmaster-General what is the reason for changing the hours of business at post offices in the rural areas of the Wellingborough constituency; and why it has been found necessary to advance the last collections from street boxes and sub-post offices by half an hour.

Mr. Joseph Slater

These changes are part of our national drive to cope with manpower problems and rising costs; in particular, the earlier collections are designed to smooth out evening peaks of work in sorting offices.
