HC Deb 09 November 1966 vol 735 cc302-3W
94. Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Postmaster-General how many special stamp issues have now been made; and whether before making further issues he will take into consideration the danger of the devaluation of British stamps.

Mr. Edward Short

There have been 47 special stamp issues comprising 139 stamps. So far from causing any debasement, the general evidence is that the current policy of commemorating outstanding British features in this way has been widely welcomed and has enhanced the interest in and appreciation of British stamps all over the world.
