HC Deb 02 November 1966 vol 735 cc103-4W
Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the latest available figure for the number of commercial vehicles using the Tay Road Bridge; and how this figure compares with the forecast of utilisation of the bridge by commercial vehicles on which the schedule of toll charges was based.

Mr. Ross

I understand that during the first ten weeks, to 26th October, an average of 440 heavy commercial vehicles crossed each day. The forecast was an average of 600 heavy commercial vehicles per day over the first year of operation.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has carried out a traffic census north of Dundee since the opening of the Tay Road Bridge.

Mr. Ross

By arrangement with Angus County Council, traffic is being continuously counted on two roads north of Dundee.
