HC Deb 02 November 1966 vol 735 c104W
Mr. Dewar

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will make a statement regarding the collapse in course of construction of the Zoological Building at the University of Aberdeen.

Mr. Ross

About 1.15 p.m. yesterday the framework and concrete floors of a 6-storey building under construction for the University of Aberdeen suddenly collapsed. Eight men were trapped, three of whom were subsequently rescued. The bodies of the five men killed have been recovered.

There will be a public inquiry under the Fatal Accident Inquiry (Scotland) Act, 1895.

I wish to express my sympathy to those who have been so tragically and suddenly bereaved.
