§ Mr. Onslowasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why United Kingdom Income Tax has been charged for the year 1966–67 on the pension of a British pensioner resident in New Zealand, particulars of whom have been sent to him by the hon. Member for Working.
§ Mr. MacDermotThe former double taxation Agreement with New Zealand terminated in April 1965. A new double taxation Agreement, which will have effect from the date of termination of the old one, was signed on 13th June and the text was published as a Schedule to a Draft Order in Council on 13th July. As under the former Agreement, pensioners who are residents of New Zealand are exempted from United Kingdom tax on their pensions. Before the new Agreement can take effect, however, it will require the approval of the House of Commons.
