HC Deb 21 July 1966 vol 732 cc143-4W
Mr. Sheldon

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the total value of orders now received against the West German offset agreement.

Mr. Diamond

In the two year period ending 31st March, 1966, payments to firms and Government Departments under the Offset Agreement totalled £62.3 million. In addition, as my hon. and learned Friend informed the hon. Member for South Angus (Mr. Bruce-Gardyne) on 27th April, transactions have been approved in principle which will in due course result in the whole of the deposit account referred to in Article 5 of the Protocol of 20th July, 1965, being used up and bring about payments amounting to £45 million in and in respect of this period. Details of payments made in the first quarter of 1966–67 are not yet available.
