HC Deb 02 February 1966 vol 723 cc243-4W
125. Mr. G. Campbell

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the average total growth in output per year foreseen for Scotland from 1965 to 1970 in the White Paper, Command Paper No. 2864, on the Scottish Economy, comparable to 3.8 per cent. for the United Kingdom given on page 2 of Command Paper No. 2764, and distinct from 4.6 per cent. for manufacturing industry only.

Mr. Ross

The figure of 3.8 per cent. annual average rate of growth required to achieve a 25 per cent. increase in the national product between 1964 and 1970 is calculated from United Kingdom aggregate figures which cannot be assessed separately for Scotland. The comparisons made in Command Paper 2864 between projected rates of growth in industry are based on the separate Scottish Index of Industrial Production.
