HC Deb 12 April 1965 vol 710 cc127-8W
49. Mr. Fisher

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the failure of the Spanish Government to reply to or to comply with the request in his Note dated 30th March, 1965, to accept as valid all British passports duly issued in the exercise of the Royal Prerogative, he will now warn the Spanish Government that it may become necessary to reject in future the passports of Spanish citizens wishing to enter the United Kingdom.

52. Mr. George Jeger

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what reply he has received from the Spanish Government to his Note of 30th March relating to the validity of British passports.

Mr. M. Stewart

A reply to my Note of 30th March was received on 9th April and this is now under study.

Meanwhile the steps which, as I informed the House on 1st March, were taken to provide the holders of passports, the validity of which had been questioned, with new documents appear to have been effective.
