asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what reply he has sent to the request of the Scottish trawler owners to suspend interest payments

The Scottish Trawlers' Federation has asked me for a waiver of interest payments for three years pending new legislation to increase subsidies. I have told it that I propose to review the situation again when reports covering the majority of the firms in default to the White Fish Authority have been received from independent accountants.
