asked the Secretary for Technical Co-operation (1) how much money has been voted by Parliament for expenditure under the Commonwealth bursaries scheme; and how much so far has been spent;

(2) how much money has been voted by Parliament for expenditure under the Commonwealth scholarships scheme; and how much so far has been spent.

Of the sum of up to £6 million provided for Commonwealth education during the five years ending in 1965, about £2 million is being made available for the scholarships scheme and about £1.7 million for teacher training bursaries. Actual expenditure up to 31st March amounted to £867,000 for scholarships and £814,000 for bursaries.
