This shows that in England and Wales in November, 1961, 250,273 students aged under 18 were released by their employers, representing 18.9 per cent. of the numbers in these age groups insured in May, 1961. The comparable percentage a year earlier would have been 15.8 per cent.

Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland that in Scotland the provisional number of students aged under 18 released by employers in the session 1961–62 is 20,559. This represents 12.6 per cent. of the estimated numbers insured at the end of May, 1961, corresponding to 11 per cent. a year earlier.
