Mr. Pavitt

asked the Minister of Education how many applicants for admission to teacher training colleges possessing an adequate number of A level passes have been rejected.

The minimum academic qualification for admission is five passes at the Ordinary level of the General Certificate of Education. Detailed information about the applicants unable to secure admission for the current session will not be available until later in the year. I will then send it to the hon. Member.

Mr. Boyden

asked the Minister of Education how many applicants for training college places this September, graded as satisfactory and as borderline, respectively, have not been accepted.
