asked the Minister of Education whether he will bring up to date the Table on Day Release published by him on 14th March, 1962.

Since publication of the table to which the hon. Member refers the basis of the statistics of further education has been changed. The new many children still have to travel considerable distances to school and that more children are staying on beyond the statutory age, he will now review the size of the school building programme.

Programmes already announced as part of the five-year programme initiated by the 1958 White Paper take account of the growth in the school population and the need to build new schools where the children live. I see no need for any special review.
