§ 29. Mr. Ginsburgasked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science if he will institute a statiscal survey of the emigration of British physicists to the United States of America in recent years, and an inquiry into main causes of such emigration.
§ Mr. Denzil FreethAccording to published American sources, in the years 1957 to 1961 the following numbers of physicists entered the United States direct from this country; 1957, 35; 1958, 35; 1959, 33; 1960, 44; 1961, 56.
The Royal Society is undertaking a Survey as regards physicists, and the Social Survey is also undertaking some relevant inquiries. I do not think any further statistical survey is needed at present.
