§ Mr. Denzil FreethA high proportion of those products of coal which are used as raw materials in the chemical industries are derived from coal tar. The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research supports research on coal tar through its grant to the Coal Tar Research Association and a limited amount of work in this field is also at present undertaken by the British Coal Utilisation Research Association.
