asked the Minister of Transport what has been the number and value of major contracts for road-works let in the current calendar year.

Mr. Marples

Since 1st January, 1961, twelve contracts have been let by me or my agent authorities for schemes of over £250,000 in value on trunk roads and motorways. The total estimated value of these contracts is £47 million.
