HC Deb 11 February 1959 vol 599 c215W
118. Mr. Slater

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what is being done through his Department to accelerate the fitting of traffic indicators on existing public service vehicles, in view of the large number of the older-type omnibus which still depend on the hand signals, since these are not always clear to pedestrians or other drivers.

Mr. Nugent

We circulated last year for comment certain proposals for the standardisation of direction indicators. Until final conclusions have been reached on these proposals we are not prepared to make indicators a compulsory fitment.
