HC Deb 17 December 1959 vol 615 c232W
110. Mr. H. Wilson

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will make a statement on the most recent negotiations with the Government of the Republic of Ireland on Anglo-Irish trade; and what proposals have been made in respect of economic sanctions or trade restrictions for the purpose of achieving objectives of a non-economic character.

Mr. Erroll

Senior officials of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland met on 10th September to discuss possibilities of improving trade between our two countries which had been suggested by the Government of the Republic. But I can assure the House that no proposals of the kind suggested by the right hon. Gentleman are envisaged by Her Majesty's Government.
