HC Deb 10 December 1958 vol 597 cc57-8W
70. Mr. G. M. Thomson

asked the Postmaster-General if he will give a list of the Scottish local education authorities who have been approached by the Post Office for permission to exempt school children for Christmas work in the Post Office; how many exemptions have been asked for in each case: and which local authorities have agreed.

Mr. K. Thompson

The local education authorities who have been approached and the maximum numbers of schoolchildren

mind any special difficulty and will write to me about it, I will try to help him.

likely to be required from their respective areas are:

Angus 2
Ayrshire 8
Clackmannan 17
Inverness-shire 43
Lanarkshire 12
Selkirkshire 20
Stirlingshire 30
Wiatown 1

All have agreed except Angus and Lanarkshire whose replies are awaited. The education authorities of Edinburgh and Renfrewshire were also approached but we shall probably not need to employ schoolchildren in their areas.
