HC Deb 02 May 1956 vol 552 c35W
59. Mr. Fernyhough

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many children there are in Kenya who are orphans or whose parents cannot be traced as a result of the emergency there.

Mr. Hare

The number of such children is unknown, since they are, by tribal custom, usually taken in and cared for within their own clans. Full facilities exist, however, for seeking out and caring for children who are not provided for in this way, as detailed in the reply which I gave to the hon. Member for Stoke-on-Trent, Central (Dr. Stross) on 28th October last.
