HC Deb 09 March 1955 vol 538 cc38-9W
76. Dr. Stross

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will consider making a financial contribution to the Save the Children Fund to mark the appreciation of Her Majesty's Government of the excellent work done by that fund in many Colonial Territories.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Her Majesty's Government greatly appreciate the valuable work done by the Save the Children Fund in Malaya, Somaliland and Kenya. The Governments of the Federation of Malaya and of the Somaliland Protectorate give financial assistance to the work of the Fund in their own territories and the home for children in Somaliland was started with the aid of a grant under the Colonial Development and Welfare Acts. I am not contemplating making any grant to the organisation from United Kingdom funds.
