HC Deb 27 May 1954 vol 528 c39W
44. Mr. Llewellyn

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, in areas where rabbits are being largely eliminated by myxomatosis, he will prohibit the use of the gin trap.

Sir T. Dugdale

No. In areas where there has been an outbreak of myxomatosis, it will be necessary to intensify ordinary control measures, with a view to eliminating survivors before they breed up again. If ordinary measures were relaxed, as the question suggests, the numbers of rabbits would rapidly recover after the disease had passed.
