HC Deb 27 May 1954 vol 528 c39W
50. Mr. Watkins

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will make a statement upon the outbreak of myxomatosis in Radnorshire; and what advice he has to give to farmers to prevent the disease from spreading.

Sir T. Dugdale

This is a small outbreak on a hill farm at Llowes near the Herefordshire border, and I am informed that so far only sixteen rabbits have been found with the disease. The Myxomatosis Advisory Committee reached the conclusion that there are no practical steps that can be taken to prevent the spread of the disease amongst wild rabbits now that it is established in this country, and I have nothing to add to that.
