asked the Minister of Labour what estimate he has made of the future level of unemployment in the Crook area; and what steps are being taken to provide employment opportunity.

During 1954 the level of unemployment in the Crook area has been lower than for a number of years and no deterioration in the position is expected. Present employment opportunities in and near Crook are favourable. My right hon. and learned Friend will keep the position under review in consultation with my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade.
