§ Mr. WatkinsonThe numbers employed in the coalmining industry in North-West Durham are expected to continue to decline gradually over the next few years. Despite the decline in coal-mining, the employment position in the area has improved steadily in recent years and there are good prospects that a high level of employment will be maintained. With regard to the second part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer to a later Question he has addressed to my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade.
