HC Deb 10 March 1953 vol 512 cc111-2W
Mr. Sparks

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware of the inadequacy of the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act, 1946, as amended, for compensating voluntary personnel of the Auxiliary Fire Service and Civil Defence who sustain personal injury by accidents arising from training; and, as this is a deterrent to recruitment, what steps he will take to ensure that a volunteer shall suffer no loss in these circumstances through inability to follow his normal occupation.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

I regret that cannot yet add anything to the answer which I gave on 26th February to a Question on this subject by my hon. Friend the Member for Billericay (Mr. Braine).
