HC Deb 21 July 1953 vol 46 c193W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what are the arrangements within the Metropolitan police for the supply of information to New Scotland Yard by police districts in the case of homicides; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mellor

We are informed by the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that a telex giving details of an offence initially recorded as homicide is transmitted to C department of the Metropolitan police within 24 hours of the offence coming to the notice of the police. A copy of the telex is sent to the statistical branch of the Metropolitan police to which copies of extracts from the original crime report and any supplementary reports are subsequently forwarded. Details of all court proceedings for homicides and of the defendants in such cases are received by the statistical branch on the completion of proceedings at magistrates, juvenile and Crown courts.
