§ Mr. Soamesasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the chief 193W constable of Merseyside into the incident outside Walton prison in Liverpool on Thursday 14 July; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. HurdI understand from the chief constable of Merseyside that an investigation into this incident is being conducted by a detective chief superintendent from greater Manchester police. This will be carried out in accordance with the statutory provisions, including reference of the report of the investigation to the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Police Complaints Board for their independent consideration of the criminal and disciplinary aspects of the case.
