HC Deb 11 February 1953 vol 511 cc42-3W
92 and 93. Mr. Reeves

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General (1) during what hours on Coronation day his permission will be given for television to be reproduced through cinema television to theatres equipped for this purpose;

(2) whether he is aware that television services will be reproducing a television newsreel of the Coronation for exhibition to viewers in the evening of that day; and whether it will be permissible for theatres to reproduce this also under his special licence.

Mr. Gammans

The collective licence for the showing of television to paying audiences on Coronation day will cover the B.B.C. broadcasts of the Coronation service and of the processions to and from the Abbey. It will also cover the broadcast to be made later in the day from the tele film recording of these spectacles. The B.B.C. will announce in due course the hours to be covered by the broadcasts.
