HC Deb 16 December 1953 vol 522 c69W
113. Mr. R. Robinson

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether, in the interests of public safety, he will bring in an order under the Road Transport Lighting Act, 1953, making it compulsory for all motor vehicles to carry two rear lights after 1st October. 1954.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

No. Manufacturing and servicing facilities alone make it impracticable to compel all vehicles to be fitted with two rear lights as soon as 1st October, 1954. The more that are fitted voluntarily, however, the better.
