§ Miss HorsbrughThe number of children in maintained and assisted schools in England and Wales taking school meals on a day in October, 1953, was 2,679,723 (45.1 per cent. of the children in attendance) compared with 2,509,786 (43.1 per cent.) for June, 1953, and 2,955,817 (51.3 per cent.) for October, 1952.
