HC Deb 03 December 1953 vol 521 c166W
97. Mr. Walker-Smith

asked the Minister of Education whether she will review the provision whereby a person winning a State scholarship to the university, but not entitled on financial grounds to the full emoluments thereof, may only receive the annual grant of £30 provided that he holds no other scholarship or award of £30 per annum or more.

Miss Horsbrugh

I assume that my hon. Friend has in mind students who, on financial grounds, do not qualify either for full or partial emoluments under the State scholarship scheme. I shall review this provision when the standard figures are next considered, but I cannot promise that I shall be able to make any change in my present arrangements.
