HC Deb 30 April 1953 vol 514 cc120-1W
Mr. Finlay

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what exemptions from taxation are granted in respect of salaries secured against the Consolidated Fund or otherwise payable from Government funds.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

There are no general exemptions from taxation for salaries of the kind referred to by my hon. Friend. If, however, he means tax-free allowances paid from Government funds, I would refer him to the answer I gave to my noble Friend the Member for Dorset, South (Viscount Hinchingbrooke) on 24th March, 1953.
