HC Deb 04 March 1952 vol 497 cc25-6W
77. Mr. Renton

asked the Minister of Works whether he is aware that his Department have, in view of the demands of the defence programme, refused permission to Messrs. King Brothers, of Lady Lodge Farm, Orton Longueville, near Peterborough, to erect 50 pig sties; that labour and materials are already available and work can start at once; that as soon as the work is completed pigs can be produced at the rate of about 800 per year; and how long it will be before the necessary licence is granted.

Mr. Eccles

This application was not rejected, but in view of the heavy load of work in the area the applicant was told that work could not start before August next. The case has since been reviewed in consultation with the Ministry of Agriculture and a licence has been issued so that work can start immediately.
