§ 97. Mr. Austinasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is satisfied with the response by the cotton spinners concerned to the provisions of the Cotton Spinning (Re-equipment Subsidy) Act; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. BelcherUp to the present 16 groups, comprising nearly 50 per cent. of the capacity of the cotton spinning industry, have been approved for the purposes of the Cotton Spinning (Re-equipment Subsidy) Act. We do not regard the response to date as unsatisfactory but we should like more groups to be formed and are hopeful that this will occur.
