HC Deb 21 September 1948 vol 456 cc68-9W
95. Mr. Byers

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that recruitment for the Women's Junior Air Corps is being adversely affected by the absence of an allocation of clothing coupons for uniforms; and if he is in a position to make some grant of coupons to this and other auxiliary bodies.

Mr. Belcher

No, but my right hon. Friend recently set on foot inquiries to see what coupon assistance can possibly be given to National voluntary youth organisations. If any such assistance is possible, the Women's Junior Air Corps would benefit.

96. Major Legge-Bourke

asked the President of the Board of Trade what proportion of ex-Service men and women have applied for the 26 extra clothing coupons for which they are eligible.

Mr. Belcher

In the case of the first two distributions of extra coupons for the demobilised, 87 per cent. of those eligible applied for the coupons. The present distribution which began only on the 4th August last has another six months to run and no figures are yet available.
