§ 99. Mr. Symondsasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware of the acute shortage of camera films in certain areas, particularly East Anglia; what proportion of home production goes for export; and if he is satisfied that the quota for the home market is fairly distributed throughout the country.
§ Mr. BelcherYes. I am aware that there is a general scarcity of film for amateur photographers. This is because we are no longer able to import as much as we did before the war and because the demand for essential medical, scientific and industrial purposes has very much increased. These uses together with export (which accounts for half the film made) must have first claim on supplies.70W I am satisfied that the limited amount available for the home market is fairly distributed.
