HC Deb 21 January 1947 vol 432 c16W
89. Mr. Champion

asked the Secretary of State for War why he has decided to cease arranging compassionate postings.

Mr. Bellenger

From the beginning of this year men are being called up to the Army for a fixed period of short duration. To be of any real value their services must be unrestricted and consequently the system of compassionate postings has been stopped. Deserving compassionate cases, however, can still be, and are being, met by the grant of compassionate leave or release where this is justified.
