asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why the export of coconut oil from Malaya is not freely permitted; and what are the present stocks of such oil compared with a year ago.

In reply to the first part of his Question, I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply which I gave to the hon. and gallant Member for Orkney and Shetland (Sir B. Neven-Spence) on 22nd January. The reply to the second part of his Question is that the present stock of coconut oil in Malaya is 15,000 tons, compared with about 1,500 tons a year ago.
