HC Deb 05 February 1947 vol 432 c358W
91. Mr. Rees-Williams

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware of the housing conditions under which workers are living in Kuala Lumpur, British Malaya; and what steps are being taken to construct temporary houses in order to deal with the situation.

Mr. Creech Jones

I am aware of the housing difficulties in Kuala Lumpur and, as I informed my hon. Friend on 18th December, a scheme for a model housing estate has been presented for the urgent consideration of the Housing Committee in the Malayan Union. With regard to the second part of the Question, I am asking the Governor for a report and will write to my hon. Friend when I have received it.
