HC Deb 11 December 1947 vol 445 cc251-2W
126. Mr. Gammans

asked the Minister of Supply if he is aware that, although ordinary weighing machines are not controlled, baby weighing machines can only be ordered from the manufacturer on receipt of a medical certificate; that there is a delay of from six to nine months in delivery; and whether, in view of the danger so caused to the life of an ailing baby on test feeds, he proposes to allow small stocks to be held by chemists and hospitals.

Mr. J. Jones

Yes, but I am afraid that our resources do not at present allow enough scales to be made to enable chemists and hospitals to hold stocks. I understand, however, that baby weighing machines are available at centres run by local authorities.
