HC Deb 11 December 1947 vol 445 c252W
128. Brigadier Peto

asked the Minister of Works what is the cost of the shell of an aluminium house and of a uni-seco house, exclusive of fittings; and what is the individual cost of six of the most expensive fittings included in these two types of house.

Mr. Key

The average cost of the shell of a uni-seco house, excluding doors and windows, is £305. I am advised by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Supply that the shell of an aluminium house is not manufactured separately and its cost, therefore, cannot be separately assessed.

The average costs of the six most expensive fittings in the uni-seco house are as follow:

£. s. d.
Set of 6 cupboard fitments:
Steel 99 0 0
Timber 50 0 0
Refrigerator
Electric 50 5 0
Gas 14 9 0
Cooker:
Electric 17 0 0
Gas 13 5 0
Solid Fuel Stove 7 15 0
Bath 5 15 0
Washboiler:
Electric 4 10 0
Gas 3 15 0

Prices for fittings in aluminium houses are similar except that the cupboard fitments form part of the structure and cannot be separately assessed.
