HC Deb 11 December 1947 vol 445 c251W
125. Mr. Cooper

asked the Minister of Supply if he will consider the special requirements of certain parts of the country for the supply of alarum clocks for those engaged on shift work where industries are run on a 24-hour day basis; and, in particular, if he will make available additional supplies of alarum clocks for such industrial areas as Tees Side.

Mr. J. Jones

Every effort is being made to meet requirements, both by expanding production at home and by importation. It is impracticable to give preference in distribution to all areas where shift workers are employed, but arrangements were made early this year to give preference to mining districts and increasing supplies should help to ease the situation in other areas.
