HC Deb 02 April 1946 vol 421 c141W
4. Lieut.-Colonel Boles

asked the Secretary of State for War whether officers who have served in the war in a temporary or acting rank in executive or administrative, including welfare, branches of the Army are permitted, on retirement, to retain the last rank they held, provided it was held for a period of at least three months.

Mr. Lawson:

Provided that he has rendered satisfactory service throughout, an officer is granted honorary rank equivalent to the highest rank he has held for a period of six months. This includes acting or temporary rank but not local rank.
