HC Deb 23 September 1943 vol 392 c410W
Mr. W. Brown

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the bad water conditions in the village of Priors Marston, in the constituency of Rugby, about which the hon. Member for Rugby has made representations; and whether he will take steps, or issue instructions, to relieve the present conditions?

Mr. E. Brown

I am informed that during four months in the year part of the village is inadequately supplied. A scheme to improve the supply was put forward by the district council in 1939, and was approved by my Department in principle in December of that year. Negotiations for purchase of the necessary land lasted until August, 1940, by which time necessary restrictions on the use of capital, labour and materials were such that the work could not then proceed. The execution of this scheme is a matter of relative priorities and I shall be happy to allow it to proceed as soon as conditions permit.
