Mr. Jackson

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that it is left to private charity to provide adequate treatment for the needs of the W.L.A. in cases where they are involved in illness or accident; and whether he will take steps to alter this unsuitable and inequitable method of dealing with these essential workers?

Mr. Hudson

No, Sir. Members of the Women's Land Army are not dependent upon private charity in case of illness of accident. The position as regards sickness benefit and compensation in case of accident was explained in the reply to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Taunton on 12th October, of which I am sending the hon. Member a copy.
