HC Deb 14 October 1943 vol 392 c1092W
Sir A. Baillie

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, to facilitate rural housing, he will encourage the use of cycles by agricultural labourers, even to the extent of subsidising production of machines and making supply to such labourers a matter of priority?

Mr. Hudson

I am not aware that those agricultural workers who need bicycles to reach their place of work are unable to obtain them under existing arrangements. My right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade informs me that sufficient bicycles are being manufactured for essential purposes. The trade are aware that priority should be given to orders placed by agricultural and other essential workers. If my hon. and gallant Friend knows of any cases of difficulty and will let me have particulars I will look into them.
